The thing about cakes like these is that yes, they look absolutely stunning, but personally I don't care what a cake looks like, I care what it tastes like. I've had some pretty disgusting wedding cakes but granted they looked awesome.
So congrats on the DD for sure, this cake looks stunning. But I do wonder what it tastes like.
Thank you VERY much! Your comment made me smile and I just had to tell you, that this was a cake for a competition. Underneath all the fondant and royal icing is styrafoam. So to answer your question, it tasted horrid But he made a 22 hour car ride to Ohio like a pro! Of my cake orders, not of the styrafoam variety, I've been told that I make some pretty tasty cakes. Thanks again
I feel a lot better now knowing that is styro, cause when I bake my own cakes (In no way competitive, just for when I feel like having cake) I have such a hard time imagining how one could bake something so perfectly round.
But I just watched a video on fondant (never knew what it was until now) and I can't help but think it's utterly cheating! For me icing is mixing icing sugar with a bit of butter and a bit of milk, spending ages to get the taste and consistency right and then painting the cake really carefully until it looks nice and thick and smooth. But a sheet of nice-and-easy fondant? hehe. Each to their own
Ahhh, This is amazing, It's Dias de los Muertos cake, It's so well done and your colors and the patterns are great, and it's very clean with the fondant and I love the skulls and just, everything! Well deserved! Well deserved indeed.
